About The Role

Reports to: Principal & Head of Course

Job Purpose:
A Singing Lecturer role at Nardone's Academy of Performing Arts, oversees the curriculum and welfare provision for the HNC/HND MUSICAL THEATRE, ACTING and DANCE students. You will provide guidance and support to the students, as well as fostering an environment of excellence in both performance and academic activities.

Salary:
£ annualised, 40 hours a week

Leadership & Development:
teach, manage, and enhance the Musical Theatre, Acting and Dance provision to ensure outstanding standards of teaching, student performance, and achievement is made.

Curriculum Delivery:
Deliver key components of the SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority) criteria and ensure a smooth delivery is presented in line with Nardone's Academy's teaching packs in line with qualification specifications.

Student Welfare & Support:
Promote and safeguard the welfare of students by offering pastoral care and supporting student learning through personalised tutorial opportunities and understanding each student's needs.

Monitoring & Achievement:
Track student progress and achievement, reporting data to the Principal/Head of Course. Act to provide extra support for students as needed.

Assessment & Course Management:
Oversee the planning, assessment, and assessor procedures. Ensure all assessment criteria are met within the specified timelines and provide consistent feedback to students.

External Collaboration:
Liaise with principal and deliver any outreach programmes to schools in line with the scheduling at the principal's discretion.

Results Day:
Attend and support the preparation and coordination for summer qualification results day.

Collaboration & Reporting:
Work alongside the Principal and other senior leaders to ensure a cohesive and effective department.

Professional Development:
Engage in continuous professional development and attend relevant faculty and induction days as well as any necessary staff meetings.

Events:
Be present at key events including performances as a lecturer at Nardone's Academy of Performing Arts.

Specific Course Requirements:

Student Support:
Actively safeguard and promote the welfare of students, addressing their individual needs and ensuring their success.

Data Management:
Monitor and track student progress, using data to inform support strategies and improve outcomes.

Administrative Duties:
Ensure all teaching resources and lesson plans are prepared in advance of the term, including the necessary photocopying and printing. Archive student work and resources in an organised manner at the end of the academic year.

Assessment Monitoring:
Attend and observe assessments, providing feedback to ensure a high standard of work across the department.

Remuneration & Additional Responsibilities include:
- Participate in departmental and interdepartmental meetings, including those with school partners.
- Ensure all assessments and feedback are completed in a timely manner, as per contractual agreements.
- Conduct lesson observations to support and enhance teaching quality across the faculty.

Attendance at Open Days, auditions, outreach events, student induction and prom events, and productions, which may include some evening and weekend working (please note, these days are scheduled in advance).

Ensure you keep up-to-date with all Nardone's Academy of Performing Arts Policies and Procedures which are also explained at the staff induction day at the beginning of every academic year and safeguarding training as well as a strong understanding of child protection and student welfare.

Requirements

Singing Lecturers must be able to play piano and sight read.

About The Company

Nardone's Academy was founded by Liam Nardone in 2017. The Academy is a Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) 'Approved Centre' and offers triple threat musical theatre training across all 3 core performance disciplines, Acting, Singing & Dancing, Alongside producing full scale musical productions (accompanied by live orchestras), pantomimes and plays.



Our Academy is a 'Recognised School' by the Council for Dance, Drama & Musical Theatre (CDMT). We offer a wide range of classes for our students with progression into more advanced sessions or into our production program. The students of the Academy can join classes which concentrate on many disciplines such as Tap Dance, Commercial, Production & Backstage, Acting, Singing and many more.

At Nardone's Academy we operate 2 performing arts schools, one in Fife and one in Edinburgh, both with large studio spaces equipped with mirrors, sprung dance floors and state of the art facilities, ensuring we continue to provide the highest level of training.
